One of the first media people I was blessed with having the pleasure of meeting in LA eons ago was the one and only Clinton H. Wallace. If memory serves me correctly, we met at The West of Brooklyn premiere. He is a trusted friend and colleague and has been like a big brother to me. Clinton is of Cuban and German ancestry on his mother’s side and Jamaican and Scottish ancestry on his father’s side, but for some reason, the Cuban and Jamaican sides stand out the most to me personality-wise, so I affectionally refer to him at the “Cubaican” […]
I had the pleasure of attending the Mission Save Her Charity Dinner hosted by Booywood star Reggie Benjamin and beautiful supermodel and actress Iwona Burnat (The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and The Real Housewives of Poland) at their beautiful estate in Calabasas. Reggie is one of the founders of this noteworthy charity and is very passionate about raising awareness to educate the international community about human trafficking, while also saving women and girls all over the world from these evils. All over the world thousands of helpless women do not have a voice and are silenced by the horrors which […]
I went to the Plaque HD event at LA Optometric that was hosted by Dr. Sherri Worth, who has a thriving dental practice in swanky Newport Beach. Guests sipped on refreshing coconut cocktails courtesy of Zico and sinfully delicious Georgetown Cupcakes. PLAQUE HD with Targetol Technology is the First Professional Plaque-Identifying Toothpaste. This advanced technology contains disclosing agents to color and identify plaque build-up on teeth. This allows the patient to target any areas of plaque build-up that may have been missed during brushing to completely remove plaque from teeth. I also enjoyed my all-natural wood Woodzee toothbrush. I felt like […]
I had a great time at the ESPY’s Celebrity Connected Gifting Suite at the swanky JW Marriott. Well worth the trek downtown, especially since I got to meet Jiffpom, the cutest dog ever! Too cute!
Much fun was had at the Sharknado 3/Syfy Party at super swanky Hotel Solamar during Comic Con. Ran into a few friends and made some new ones. Everything was of course, shark-themed, even down to the “Singnado” karaoke room. The highlight of the evening was running into the acclaimed Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning actress Shohreh Aghdashloo, who is one of the stars of the hot new Syfy show, The Expanse. She is also a relative and is the first woman to be featured on www.Ghaffaris.com, our family geneology site. It’s been a pleasure to interview her over the years and I’d […]
So at practically the very last minute I attended my first Comic Con. And boy was it a learning experience. I missed out on so much as I literally attended it on the fly, but learned more than I ever imagined. There were so many great moments…all in one day! So I’ll sum it up here visually with a few snippets and many photos… I was very excited for my friend and fellow Persian Cas Anvar who is currently rocking it as a series regular in two, yes that’s right, TWO Syfy series, The Expanse and Olympus! The Expanse is […]
I had the distinct pleasure and honor of getting an invite to an intimate holiday Sunday brunch over the 4th of July weekend at renowned fashion designer Sue Wong’s historical estate, The Cedars. I’ve been to her sprawling estate before, but I had never been there during the day and I truly got to see every detail and the beautiful well manicured lawns. And the crowd! It was a very diverse international crowd. I felt like I was at an embassy party in DC, but with tons of talented artists there. It was like a true salon of artists and […]
I had a great re-connection to a fashionable part of my Persian culture that I have yet to see at Shahla Dorriz Couture last night via their bold and artistic “Matriarchs / Archives” exhibition. This is the second exhibition of the ” / Archives” series by mother and son collaborators Shahla and Alexandre Dorriz. The third and fourth generation couturiers, and photographer, are known for their working with their family’s rich historical collection of needlepoint and embroidered textiles, some over 150 years to date, which were smuggled out of Iran during the 1979 Iranian Revolution. Shahla and Alexandre delve into […]
I had the pleasure of getting invited to the Coming Home with Nick Palance Event at the glamorous beachside Casa Del Mar Hotel where some lovely and amazingly accomplished friends of mine were given well-deserved Certificates of Recognition for all their vast charitable endeavors. Acclaimed Pop-Opera recording artist Nick Palance was the impressive headliner of “Coming Home with Nick Palance and Friends” charity gala to benefit OPCC and individuals who are homeless. This memorable evening included a red carpet gala reception, seated dinner by Executive Chef Alberico Nunziata in a spectacular ballroom overlooking the sea, silent auction, and an exciting […]
In the hulabaloo of my commendation at the West Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce the week before, I decided to check out the BET week Pre-Beauty & Brains Fashion Show and Gifting Suite at the California Market Center, a true mecca of West Coast fashion. It was great to run into my friends Phillip Delacruz from Dama Tequila and BJ from Hula Girl.
