Had a great mini facial courtesy of the lovely Sarah Gardner at the Santa Monica location of Malin+Goetz on super chic Montana Avenue, which is dotted with some really trendy boutiques. It was so nice to meet Manager Shelley Randles, and try the amazing products in this line. I also got to sample some great juice and cookies from Live Beaming, which is a few blocks away. Founded by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz, this line is the perfect yin and yang to Malin’s background in the beauty world (high end lines like Kiehl’s, Prada etc.) and Goetz’s background in […]
Had a great time at the Suzanne DeLaurentiis Daytime Emmy gifting suite at the wonderful Dylan Keith Salon in the heart of Burbank. Sponsors for the event were Cinema Secrets, Nassif MD, Vivan’s Boutique Erica’s Organics, New Day Talk show, Sweet Bottom Treats & Events, and MX4D, the Motion EFX Industry, which is an immersive 4D experience, the next evolution in cinema. I had a fabulous time at the Bio Iconic Style Awards at Avalon in the heart of Hollywood. BioIconic partnered with Modern Salon and L’Oréal-owned distributor Salon Centric on a nationwide hunt to give one hairstylist the biggest break of their career. The top four lucky hairstylists selected from the #MYBIGBREAK Instagram competition attended the awards where the winner, Kelsey Deuel was declared amongst 700+ guests, including some of the nation’s leading creative artists, stylists and beauty industry elites. In addition, the Kelsey will be featured in a nationwide print feature in Modern Salon. The contestants competed for the grand prize […]
I have been straightening my Perfro (“Persian Fro”) for years with much difficulty. It’s been very challenging to manage my hair. I’m sure anyone else with “ethnic hair” has the same challenges. I used that parenthetical phrase, as that is what many hairdressers over the years have referred to my mop of hair as. Most even charge me extra and gripe about my nappy hair under their breath the whole time. And they saddle my locks with far too much product, which has damaged and malnourished my hair. Usually it takes hours for me to style my hair myself. I’ve […]
I really enjoyed SallyeAnder’s hand made and hypoallergenic line of beautiful and wonderfully scented luxury soaps. Being that I have sensitive skin, I found the soaps I sampled to really work for me and calm my irritated skin. I love how all the ingredients in this innovative line like olive and soy oils, as well as goat milk and almond oil are all natural. I also love that it’s family owned and operated. The rosy scent of the Organic Rose Soap was amazing, the Milk and Mint Soap really perks one up in the morning with it’s bold, minty scent, […]
I really enjoyed Eddä Scandinavian’s skincare line. I tried the Rose Tea and Orquid Liquid Soap and hand cream. I loved how luxurious the products felt and what an indulgence it was to use this line. I loved the soothing floral scent of the Rose Tea and Orchid. My hands felt super soft after using the soap to wash my hands and the hand cream. And the floral scent was like smelling roses in bloom! It’a cool that this scent is a clean, soapy rose that is combined with the wilderness of the orchid. I love that these products are Made […]
I had the opportunity to test celebrity hair and makeup artist Peter Lamas’ upscale but affordable self-titled skin care line. And I loved it! The Peter Lamas line worked wonders for me as I have super sensitive skin and while I love scented products, my skin is usually too sensitive to try them. Peter’s products are lightly scented and all natural. This line is 100% vegan, paraben-free, sulfate-free and petrochemical-free. I tried the Detoxifying Citrus C Facial Cleanser, Nourishing Buriti Oil Moisturizer, and the Firm and Lift Eye Serum. The cleanser did a great job of cleaning my skin and […]

Nice time at the Magazine launch party for BERLIN GIRLS, a new publication from Benjamin Mohapi and his team at Benjamin salon with Negin Zand in a very upscale part of West Hollywood. The event also featured work from Los Angeles artist Albert Reyes. More info at http://www.salonbenjamin.com/ I loved the design of the salon…lots of great knick knacks, especially the nose bookends. I also really liked Benjamin’s photographs and well as Albert’s sketches.
Being a sensitive skinned rosacea sufferer, winters are always a tough time on my skin. So I dashed over to my appointment with Leora of Leora Veysey Skin Care. She did a great job with my super dry skin and gave me the most innovative facial I ever had with the Trinfinity 8 system, which used a computer and crystal transmitters. I felt like I was living in the future. Trinfinity 8’s state of the art Spa technology is designed to maximize the body’s reparative process. It stimulates the body’s own ability to heal and balance itself from the inside […]
