Gliding to Straighter Hair with The Glyder

I have been straightening my Perfro (“Persian Fro”) for years with much difficulty. It’s been very challenging to manage my hair. I’m sure anyone else with “ethnic hair” has the same challenges. I used that parenthetical phrase, as that is what many hairdressers over the years have referred to my mop of hair as. Most even charge me extra and gripe about my nappy hair under their breath the whole time. And they saddle my locks with far too much product, which has damaged and malnourished my hair. Usually it takes hours for me to style my hair myself. I’ve […]

Lathering up with SallyeAnder Soaps

I really enjoyed SallyeAnder’s hand made and hypoallergenic line of beautiful and wonderfully scented luxury soaps. Being that I have sensitive skin, I found the soaps I sampled to really work for me and calm my irritated skin. I love how all the ingredients in this innovative line like olive and soy oils, as well as goat milk and almond oil are all natural. I also love that it’s family owned and operated. The rosy scent of the Organic Rose Soap was amazing, the Milk and Mint Soap really perks one up in the morning with it’s bold, minty scent, […]

Enjoying Eddä Scandinavian

I really enjoyed Eddä Scandinavian’s skincare line. I tried the Rose Tea and Orquid Liquid Soap and hand cream. I loved how luxurious the products felt and what an indulgence it was to use this line. I loved the soothing floral scent of the Rose Tea and Orchid. My hands felt super soft after using the soap to wash my hands and the hand cream. And the floral scent was like smelling roses in bloom! It’a cool that this scent is a clean, soapy rose that is combined with the wilderness of the orchid. I love that these products are Made […]

Loving the Peter Lamas line

I had the opportunity to test celebrity hair and makeup artist Peter Lamas’ upscale but affordable self-titled skin care line. And I loved it! The Peter Lamas line worked wonders for me as I have super sensitive skin and while I love scented products, my skin is usually too sensitive to try them. Peter’s products are lightly scented and all natural. This line is 100% vegan, paraben-free, sulfate-free and petrochemical-free.   I tried the Detoxifying Citrus C Facial Cleanser, Nourishing Buriti Oil Moisturizer, and the Firm and Lift Eye Serum. The cleanser did a great job of cleaning my skin and […]

Berlin Girls Magazine Launch at Benjamin Salon

Nice time at the Magazine launch party for BERLIN GIRLS, a new publication from Benjamin Mohapi and his team at Benjamin salon with Negin Zand in a very upscale part of West Hollywood. The event also featured work from Los Angeles artist Albert Reyes. More info at http://www.salonbenjamin.com/   I loved the design of the salon…lots of great knick knacks, especially the nose bookends. I also really liked Benjamin’s photographs and well as Albert’s sketches.

Soft Skin for So Very Vida

Being a sensitive skinned rosacea sufferer, winters are always a tough time on my skin. So I dashed over to my appointment with Leora of Leora Veysey Skin Care. She did a great job with my super dry skin and gave me the most innovative facial I ever had with the Trinfinity 8 system, which used a computer and crystal transmitters. I felt like I was living in the future. Trinfinity 8’s state of the art Spa technology is designed to maximize the body’s reparative process. It stimulates the body’s own ability to heal and balance itself from the inside […]

Loving the Leeya Line!

I have a great hairdresser named Kiko who has a wonderful line of amazing haircare products called Leeya. I love his conditioner, serum and his texturizing hair wax is sublime. I think hair wax is great for those with short hair, but Kiko’s line is so versatile, this wax is great for fly away hairs. Kiko has been in the salon industry for over 26 years and is still inspired by all areas of hair designing. At the age of 13 his grandfather bought his first pair of scissors and clippers. And from that point on he found his true […]

Youngblood’s Fountain of Youth

I was introduced to the wonderful cruelty and paraben-free Youngblood Cosmetics line years ago. I especially wear Youngblood when I do my own makeup as it’s really easy to use. One brutally hot day in October, I had two events to attend and my makeup stayed put! Thanks so much Youngblood. My favorite products in the line are the mineral primer and the mineral blush in blossom as well as the pressed eyeshadow in pink diamond.
