Getting Glammed for My So Very Vida Launch

Since I have a fashion and beauty blog, I had to get glammed in the best way possible for my So Very Vida blog launch event, so who do I turn to for the best makeup in town? The fabulous Jade Martinez, celebrity makeup artist extraordinaire and founder of one of my favorite makeup lines on the planet, Moonstar Cosmetics. Jade collaborated with two of my favorite sisters in the makeup industry, Sher and Lili, of Mazi Salon in Glendale. The sisters are a dynamic duo in full face makeup and contouring. They are amazing and would put the Kardashians […]

Jessica Nail Clinic Re-opening!

Had a great time with my Live with Ford and Vida co-host, celebrated actor Ford Austin at the at the exclusive re-opening of the iconic JESSICA Nail Clinic! LA’s favorite manicure oasis has remodeled its Sunset Plaza location, revamped its signature treatments, and rebranded into a full-service spa with a new name – THE CLINIC. As a very OCD person, I loved it there as it was super clean like a clinic, but beautiful, luxurious and airy like a spa. https://www.facebook.com/LiveWithFordAndVida/videos/1723843317870567/ More about our show at:  https://www.facebook.com/LiveWithFordAndVida/ More about Jessica Nail clinic: Instagram @jessicacosmetics Twitter @Jessica_Int

Channeling the Inner Goddess with Country Goddess

I truly channeled my inner goddess with Country Goddess’ skin replenishing food. This product is all-natural handmade replenishing facial exfoliant that cleanses, protects and softens your skin. It contains high performing herbs and ingredients that boost the skin’s natural rejuvenation properties. This innovative and ecological line was created by Sri Thayi.    I like the natural ingredients like sandalwood, holy basil, rose, almonds, sunflower seeds, lemon, orange and Indian lilac. I really liked the golden color of this product and the way it felt on my skin. And it was super easy to apply. I can’t wait to try the nourishing lip […]

So Very Vida interviewed by Amber Lynn on Rock N’ SeXXXy Show

I had the pleasure of being interviewed by the stunning Amber Lynn on her popular Rock N’ SeXXXy show on LA Talk Radio alongside cool guests like Playboy Playmate, actress and comedienne Julie McCullough and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Ricky Byrd. As it turns out, Amber is acting in a film called Who’s Jenna with Ronnie Marmo, a friend of mine. We will also be acting together in multi award-winning filmmaker Thomas J. Churchill’s much buzzed about film, Blood & Iron. I am always astounded by how small our community is. I learned a lot of beauty tips […]

Nuts for Nerium

Being that I got my start in consumer journalism, I’m always skeptical of  brand partner companies, but so many friends were raving about it, from successful actor friends, friends plugged into the beauty world, to retirees. I tried their simple system of application for the creams morning and night and the first time I ever applied it, I felt my skin tighten and it felt, really supple.   I will say that I liked the white day cream more than the gritty beige night cream, but the results were way better with the night cream. Nerium contains the NAE-8® extract, as […]

Spring Beauty Event at Malin+Goetz

Had a great mini facial courtesy of  the lovely Sarah Gardner at the Santa Monica location of Malin+Goetz on super chic Montana Avenue, which is dotted with some really trendy boutiques. It was so nice to meet Manager Shelley Randles, and try the amazing products in this line. I also got to sample some great juice and cookies from Live Beaming, which is a few blocks away. Founded by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz, this line is the perfect yin and yang to Malin’s background in the beauty world (high end lines like Kiehl’s, Prada etc.) and Goetz’s background in […]

Gliding to Straighter Hair with The Glyder

I have been straightening my Perfro (“Persian Fro”) for years with much difficulty. It’s been very challenging to manage my hair. I’m sure anyone else with “ethnic hair” has the same challenges. I used that parenthetical phrase, as that is what many hairdressers over the years have referred to my mop of hair as. Most even charge me extra and gripe about my nappy hair under their breath the whole time. And they saddle my locks with far too much product, which has damaged and malnourished my hair. Usually it takes hours for me to style my hair myself. I’ve […]
