Had a great time with the lovely influencer and blogger Rachel McCord of http://www.themccordlist.com at the Napa Valley 2016 Auction tasting at the Sofitel Hotel in West Hollywood. All the proceeds from this auction will go to children’s educational and community health charities. This auction has raised over 150 million dollars since 1981!
This event was in conjunction with the Napa Valley (www.napavintners.com), which is a community that supports local vintners. McCord was thrilled to celebrate the launch of their online auction, which runs from Sunday, May 29th at noon (PDT) to Sunday, June 5th, 2016.
” I decided to support Napa Valley and their online auction because proceeds will benefit non-profit organizations for community health and children’s education in Napa Valley. Plus, let’s be honest, with luxurious stays at guest houses in Napa Valley, unique tasting experiences, tours of fabulous estates and vineyards, and magnums of some of Napa Valley’s finest wines … it felt like the perfect story for my blog, TheMcCordList.com. It’s also getting the true Napa experience without leaving LA,” said Rachel.
I tried some amazing wines from wineries like Charles Krug (founded by the Mondavi family), Jamieson Ranch, Taken Wine, Coquerel, and Round Pond Estate. All the guests were treated to bottles of wine and beautiful roses from http://www.passionroses.com
I really enjoyed trying these fabulous wines and meeting Alycia Mondavi. I was very flattered twice when I was mistaken for her. Towards the end of the evening, two of the guests kept asking me for wine and called me by her name!
In addition to mistaken identity, it was interesting to me to find such a commonality with someone like Alycia as my dad’s family had a vineyard back in Karaj dating back to the early 1900’s. Karaj is a suburb of Tehran, Iran (!) and isn’t impressive that such a thing existed back then? It became a very successful vineyard with a great vintner and staff with a restaurant to boot. I wonder if things didn’t sour (no pun intended) with the Iranian revolution and all, if I would be a renowned vintner like Alycia as her great-grandparents, Rosa and Cesare, married around that time and acquired their first winery in the 1940’s.
