An Evening with Fashion Designer Sue Wong

FGI LA held an evening with iconic fashion designer Sue Wong at her studios. Sue provided insight into her fascinating life, career, history of her brand, her aesthetic philosophy and exciting vision for the future.

Pieces from her timeless archives were showcased accompanied by music by guitarist Medi EM. Medi’s wife, model Dustin Quick, did a beautiful flamenco dance as well. My favorite parts of the evening were were Sue gave brief anecdotes about the gowns and when she designed them.

“Sue Wong is the embodiment of a Joseph Campbell hero. Through hard work and passion she has overcome all odds and reached the pinnacle of success in the fashion world as a designer,” said Faith Boutin, Managing Director of FVM Global Magazine and advisory board member of FGILA.

“As Co-Regional Director of the Los Angeles chapter of Fashion Group International (www.fgi.org), it was a pleasure to have Sue Wong, a woman of great achievement present and share her story on such a personal level. I personally learned so much more than I ever knew about her. She is truly a living icon and to be in her presence and experience her gifts is an honor,” said Chamian Renee.

“Fashion Group International was honored to have the opportunity to sponsor an event with Sue Wong. Her story moved me beyond words. She is an inspiration and an amazing artist, as we all saw in the collection of gowns that she showcased at the event. I am a huge fan of her design aesthetic and the exquisite detail in each and every piece she creates. Myself and fellow board members of the Los Angeles chapter of FGI were very grateful to have had the opportunity to create an event around a woman of such grace, beauty and talent! Sue Wong is truly one of a kind!,” declared FGI regional co-director Trish Concannon.
