I recently had the pleasure of attending the 8th annual Diplomats Diversi-Tea Gala this Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the scenic FantaSea Yacht Club in Marina del Rey where my amazing friend, Global Fashion Icon-Philanthropist Sue Wong was bestowed with a humanitarian award.
This gala celebrates international diversity and cultural inclusiveness, spotlighting Diplomats who represent our global community. In addition to Sue, honorees included, His Excellency United Nations Ambassador Eden Charles from Trinidad and Tobago, and The Honorable, Consul Belen Gonzalez del Val from Spain. They also recognized outstanding individuals who are empowering our world and Global Philanthropist Evalee Treen.
I even got to serenade (with my raspy voice) the amazing Emmy-award winning actress and singer Ja’net Dubois with the theme song to one of my favorite shows, “The Jeffersons” that she sang so beautifully. I normally don’t believe in affirmations, but I sing that song every…single…day of my life, whether in the car or shower. I couldn’t do the song justice, but understood what the song meant to me. I don’t think it was an accident that I ran into her!
There was a food buffet and wide variety of gourmet teas for attendees. The founder of this esteemed gala, Ambassador Sutton is a United Nations Delegate to the General Assembly, and she created this event to build harmonious understanding between our neighbors who live across the globe. Minorities in Business (M.I.B.) worked in association with Ambassador Sutton for this annual Diplomatic Gala.
