Internationally renowned fashion designer Sue Wong hosted a star-studded Birthday celebration and fashion installation extravaganza announcing D.N.A.M. Apparel Industries LLC as the new Licensee of the SUE WONG Evening Collection. The exclusive celebration, themed “From MAO TO NOW”, honored the designer’s origins from a remote humble village in Maoist China, journeying to America as a young child and transforming herself into the Empress of Fashion.
Sue’s story is so inspiring and I so admire her for all her achievements. Being the quintessential Phoenix, she now finds herself poised on a threshold she calls her Third Phoenix Rising. The next most vibrant and exciting third chapter is the culmination of a stellar career, the embodiment of her well-respected, much loved luxurious label of magnificent evening gowns and cocktail dresses in the Sue Wong line.
It was also a night of firsts for yours truly. Yours truly, So Very Vida made her debut as a guest co-host on the popular Eye on Entertainment TV show with noted actress Dawna Lee Heising and directed by John Cox. I haven’t hosted a TV show, since my Persian TV show days, so I had a blast and it was an honor to interview Sue on camera as well as my friend Faith Boutin and her husband Murray from FVM Global Magazine. I also got to interview sponsors Mauricio Ahued, Betty Long of What a Betty and Andrew Angelini of Angelini Trading Company. Dawna and I conducted our interviews in style wearing exquisite Sue Wong gowns and as always, it was a real honor to interview Sue. Dawna, is of Chinese descent and was a former Miss Chinatown and was really interested in hearing about Sue’s epic journey to the US. I will post the link soon.
It was also the first time my mom had the pleasure of meeting Sue. Growing up in a country like Iran, which had over a 2,500-year monarchy and coming from a diplomatic family and a direct descendant of the Qajar dynasty, my mom has had the opportunity to meet all sorts of royalty and dignitaries back in the old country as well as back home in Washington DC, but by far, she was most impressed by Sue. “Sue is a self made woman who has earned everything she has, yet she has such a regal and classic way about her that you don’t really see nowadays. While other people merely walk, Sue, well poised and composed, glides like a graceful swan on a glittering yet serene lake.”
I am by far posting the most pics ever in this particular story as it was such an amazing night of fashion. The gorgeous gowns are still etched in my memory and I’m really excited for Sue’s career developments! Check out some of the pics!
