I recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by noted horror journalist Michael Christopher Jones aka the Dedman for the noted Horror Society Radio show right before Halloween no less! He was a great interviewer and as it turns out he’s from Woodbridge, Virginia, which is near where I’m from, so I just had to blog about him. I spent so much time in his hometown as they had the biggest outlet mall in the area, Potomac Mills. While Michael was exploring all things horror, I was exploring all things bargain priced! Like many in this business, Michael wears many hats.
A huge horror fan since birth, Michael was heavily influenced in his FX work by such legendary men as Tom Savini, Giannetto De Rossi and Screaming Mad George to name a just few. He got his break in the industry after visiting a haunted house in Raleigh, North Carolina, and after visiting the set to do a press inquiry as a writer for Horror Society, he was asked to come back and help finish the FX work on Forever Dead (2007).
He continues to do FX work for indie horror films as well as music videos and assorted horror themed events (Halloween parties at bars, haunted houses, etc.). He is also a member of the horror media, writing primarily for Horror Society, Living Dead Magazine, Coffin Cuties and Screams Quarterly Magazine while occasionally guest writing for The Digital Dead Magazine and Gore Noir. He is also the Program Director of Horror Society Radio and is the host of The Calling Hours Horror Podcast on Tuesday nights at 8 PM EST.
