Fashion Designer Sue Wong’s New Year’s Eve Fête and Retrospective Installation

The stars of Hollywood aligned at renowned fashion designer Sue Wong’s legendary estate, The Cedars for Sue’s epic New Year’s Eve party to ring in the new year! There were luminaries of film, TV, music, fashion, art, politics, media and music ranging from Congressman Ed Royce to as actor-musician Ronn Moss (The Bold and the Beautiful, Player), actress Alice Amter (The Big Bang Theory), actress Sofia Milos (CSI: Miami), actress Bai Ling (Wild Wild West, Entourage, Samurai Cop 2: Deadly Vengeance), rocker Chris Pitman (Guns N’ Roses), as well as Hollywood major players, former Director of BAFTA LA, Sandro Monetti and former BAFTA Chairman of the Board Nigel Daly, OBE, and Larry Namer, founder of E! Entertainment. Additionally, socialites Alexandrina Doheny and Jo Hilton. Sue’s beautiful estate evokes old Hollywood glamour to its core, so it was THE party to go to ring in 2016!

The Cedars has it’s own star-studded pedigree with past residents such as Norma Talmadge, Howard Hughes, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Johnny Depp, Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground and many others. To see so many glam guests all decked out in Sue Wong’s feminine and spectacular designs is always a great way to ring in the new year! Many celebs and VIPs in attendance wore Sue’s designs, which looked great in the historical estate. Sue’s exquisite gowns harken back to Hollywood’s golden era, epitomizing timeless glamour and a magical ethereal style. Whether suffused with the sensuous glamour of Sue’s iconic Silver Screen muses – Norma Talmadge, Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich, Jean Harlow; or steeped in feminine mystique, Sue’s creations exude mystery, romance and glamour.

There were surprise live performances by legendary musicians such as  Ronn Moss, Jawn Star, Rob Math of Player, Shannan Rene Parks, Brit rocker Steve Cooke, international chanteuse Maria Elena Infantino, opera stars Michael Peer and Oleksandra Hrabova and popera singer Nick Palance. Oskar Rivera, CEO of Rivera Productions largely sponsored the most elegant evening, saluting the Sue Wong Fashion Retrospective and ushering in 2016 with holiday toasts with Moreno BHLV Champagne; in addition to vodka sponsored by Toast Vodka. The enchanting evening was beautifully and vividly accented by gorgeous floral arrangements from Zina of Four Seasons Flowers & Design. Additional sponsors included Purple Haze Liqueur, Hint Water, Kangen Water and Downey’s Desserts.

And to top it off, there was also a 10 Year retrospective that featured 24 of Sue’s iconic pieces from her rarefied archives, so it not only was a feast of sumptuous food and bubbly, but also high fashion! To see this collection was a real highlight of the evening for me. Each stunning gown was an operatic statement from Sue’s rarefied archives spanning her long tenure as a noted celebrity fashion designer. The Cedars, a portal into Hollywood Babylon, with its soaring frescoed ceilings, gilded colonnade, period ironwork and antique furnishings epitomizes classic Hollywood glamour, so it was the perfect venue for this unveiling. “My designs are flattering and lyrical, they live a kind of magic; drawing on a potion of mystique and seduction. I strive for that alchemy, where the romance of the couture transforms a woman into a goddess—an emissary of beauty,” said Sue.

“As part of the Sue Wong Ten Year Retrospective, Sue’s models were adorned in her timeless masterpieces. It was truly inspiring for me to be surrounded by these live canvases of art in motion,” said actor and musician Ronn Moss.

It was also nice to see Sue receive three well deserved awards. Jarvee Hutcherson, the President of Multicultural Motion Picture Association, presented the designer the Fashion Award from the 7th Annual Diamond Rose Awards/Lady in Red, the Certificate of Recognition from the City Of Los Angeles, and one more special Certificate from the County Of Los Angeles. Big congrats to Sue! What a great way to ring in the new year!
