It was a meeting of the minds as The Association of Professors and Scholars of Iranian Heritage (APSIH) held their networking event on November 18th. Following their previous successful networking event, they hosted their second quarterly Networking event at the Garage in West LA.
APSIH is a group that I hold dear to my heart as they awarded my beloved father, Dr. Abolghassem Ghaffari, with a Distinguished Scholar Lifetime Achievement Award at UCLA shortly after his 100th birthday. This was one of my favorite LA moments, not just because of my dad receiving the award, but also because he had just recovered from a hospital visit and we honestly didn’t think he could make it to the ceremony.
This award meant the world to him as he loved academic organizations and he was so impressed by all the accomplished academics and students being recognized for their hard work. Anything supporting education had his approval and his highest regard. My dad’s dying wish was to have a scholarship in his name for students in the field of Mathematics and Science. I hope the fine folks at wonderful organizations like APSIH can assist me in this process. Thanks again for the memories APSIH. More info at http://www.apsih.org/
